So normally, if I’m on the computer on a Wednesday night it’s because I’m doing lesson planning for my Thursday morning English class.
Not tonight. Long story short. I have dengue. Still.
This all started last Thursday with the usual headaches, muscle aches, fever, and exhaustion. So I took loads of extra strength Tylenol, slept a gazillion hours, and read a few books. Pretty successful week, right?
This morning I woke up feeling great. I put in my contacts, put on real clothes, and was ready to head out for morning Mass with everyone else… but the CliniLab people were coming to do a blood test, so I had to stay behind, but with the idea that I could go later in the afternoon.
Turns out that despite feeling great and being on day 7 of the dengue cycle, my blood platelet levels had dropped again. I was confined to bed for the rest of the day and to keep my fluids up during the night, well, I currently have an IV in my left arm that’s making it a little tricky to type this post.
I still feel great, but ironically, that’s probably the worst part. I’d be content with bed rest if I felt miserable.
Actually, I think the real worst part has been realizing how little control I have over my own body… It’s been a really humbling week/day. I’m sure a longer reflection will eventually follow.
For now though, please say a prayer and hopefully the blood platelet levels will be on the rise tomorrow! I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Oooh, not fun. Definitely praying for you!
Aww, Carrie! Poor thing. Prayers!
I’m so sorry to read this, Carrie. I’ll be sure to say a few more prayers for you!
